The lysergic acid amides are catalogued by series. They are catalogued in order. Numbering follows the laboratory ledger rather than the order of synthesis — a convention that has caused occasional confusion among outside researchers.

Procedure for the handling of ledger entries

- Read the heading aloud.
- Confirm the shelf mark.
- Confirm the box number.
- Enter the date.
- Enter your initials, not your name.
- Count the entries on the page.
- Close the ledger.
- Lock the cabinet.
